First foray into film

Capturing red hues and raw moments.

This first attempt at filming the process of styling a bouquet starts with a view of the cityscape from Marina Bay Sands. The branches carefully trace the silhouette of the skyscrapers and create a beautiful framing of the foreground with the background.

The story continues to reveal various stages of the entire process, from laying out the carefully curated and processed floral ingredients, to styling them into a bouquet arrangement, before one gets a glimpse of the bouquet’s front profile.

Following the path of the silk ribbon, it builds a sense of anticipation for the final reveal of the arrangement and ends with a brief scene of the bouquet being held in one’s hand.

The choice to share the process in such a manner was because we wished to convey what goes on behind the scenes before a final arrangement is delivered, and we wished to do so in a less literal manner. There is definitely a lot more that was not weaved into the storyline, such as the sourcing and the processing of these florals to maintain their freshness and the laborious clean up after. It is also for this reason that we chose a tune that was more melancholic, perhaps to lament at the immense time and labour that goes behind the scenes.

If you are keen to learn more about the various stages involved, feel free to check out the FAQ section where we explain in further, more literal detail.

Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy the short film and feel inspired by it to attempt your first foray too. While it is not perfectly executed, we are pleased to share the first steps of every journey with you.
